This first edition of the Journal for 2022 contains four articles, all by highly regarded and experienced authors. The first article is by Penny Moore, Thandeka Moyo-Gwete, Simone Richardson and Cathrine Scheepers, all of whom have multiple affiliations. They present a manuscript entitled “Pivoting from HIV vaccine research to COVID – Lessons learnt for the next pandemic”, which aptly describes the content. As they indicate in their text, “Utilising the infrastructure we had already developed and expertise we had acquired over the last 20 years, we rapidly adapted several existing platforms that we had developed for HIV, to address questions regarding SARS-CoV-2.”
