Introduction

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were many restrictions initiated by countries as part of COVID-19 containment measures. These restrictions, for example stay-at-home orders inadvertently caused several problems that had not been anticipated. There has been general drop in the uptake of vaccines in many countries, with the risk of parallel outbreaks of both COVID-19 waves, new variants, and other vaccine-preventable diseases. One of the big concerns has revolved around how to best support health care workers and build necessary capacity of healthcare facilities to handle severe COVID-19 patients without compromising ongoing services
