In this 4th issue of Volume 3 of Medical Focus, three important and currently relevant topics are addressed: Drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) in children, prevention and management of HIV in children and the effects of social stresses of the COVID-19 epidemic on clinicians and healthcare workers. An estimated 32,000 children develop multi-drug-resistant (MDR)-TB (i.e. disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains resistant to at least both isoniazid and rifampicin) annually.
