This qualification addresses each of these domains with generic competencies, thereby providing opportunities for people to transfer between various specialisations within management.
This will therefore enable management competencies to be strengthened, and enable managers to better manage systems, processes, resources, self, teams and individuals in various occupations.
This qualification must be completed over a period of 12 months as a learnership. All learners must be employed in a business environment with a mentor for the duration of the course.
This qualification is intended for junior managers of small organisations, junior managers of business units in medium and large organisations, or those aspiring to these positions. Junior managers include team leaders, supervisors, foremen and section heads.

Based on the qualification description and requirements, the Generic Management qualification is divided into 7 modules with sub-divisions, based on the exit level outcomes and related assessment criteria.

Learners must study the Resource Guide and then answer the questionnaire and compile a portfolio of evidence for each module. All modules must be completed successfully before certification.

To obtain the certificate of competence, the learner must successfully answer a questionnaire with a pass rate of 50% and be found competent for the portfolio of evidence submitted for each module.
